The first book in the Spatterjay series by British Author Neal Asher this book is the story of a planet where the wild life is strange and dangerous and a virus mutates people into “Hoopers”. People who regenerate the most dire of all wounds and get stronger and tougher the longer they live.  Three people come to Spatterjay and their stories intertwine as we uncover the mysteries of this planet. Erlin is a young hopper (240 years old) coming back hoping to find excitement in her life. Janer works for the hornet hive mind and travels the universe bringing hornet observers with him and  Sable Keech a thousand year old reanimated cop looking for justice. 

I really love Neal Asher’s Polity series he has a knack for writing  believable sci fi and I loved the War Drone Sniper, it was interesting to enjoy the point of view of an artificial intelligence and I enjoyed finding out about the history of Spatterjay and the planet’s involvement in a past war.
